Mary Catherine Anthony was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Birmingham-Southern College.

After graduating from undergraduate school, Mary Catherine traveled abroad and studied at an artist’s colony in the south of France. After her studies, she continued her travels independently throughout Europe. Mary Catherine returned home to paint after four months of travel. She recently completed her Masters in Art Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Mary Catherine Anthony is currently showing at the Atchison Gallery in Mountain Brook Village and the Birmingham Museum of Art store. Also, Amanda Schedler Fine Art named Mary Catherine Anthony as one of the top twelve artists in the State of Alabama in 2007. This show presents the work of the twelve winners of the 2nd Birmingham Biennial: Alabama’s Best Artists the art competition for Alabama artists, judged by a panel of out-of-state experts in contemporary art. Her work was shown at Amanda Schedler Fine Art during the month of June 2007. Mary Catherine also showed her work at the Eastern Shore Art Center in Fairhope, Alabama for the Falling Water show, which opened on September 4th, 2009. She won 3rd place in the two-dimensional artwork category.
